Jim Camp and Will Phillips will be leading a discussion entitled: “Knowing your Client and their Drivers for Sustainability.” You will also have an opportunity network with leading environmental companies and businesses from across the mid-Atlantic region. The event will be held at Gensler, 1 East Pratt Street in Baltimore, Maryland from 11:30am – 1:30pm.
Sustainability has become both a corporate responsibility and a mainstream practice. It is critical for businesses to develop green goals, a plan to achieve them, and a strategy for marketing and branding themselves appropriately as a green company. To get credit for being green in the business climate of today, a company must not only do the right thing for the environment, but they must also ensure that everyone knows about it.
Jim Camp with Gensler will discuss how their diverse clients have varying goals and drivers for sustainability, with examples from work with T Rowe Price, Legg Mason, and Under Armour. Client expectations differ from organization to organization, and from project to project, but in many cases, clients want their built environment to be an integral part of “walking the walk.” As architects, Gensler has a responsibility to both the client and the environment; striking the right balance is the key to success.
Will Phillips with Under Armour will speak from a consumer facing brand’s perspective about their path towards sustainability, and how they involve their consumers and employees. He will discuss UA GREEN ‘On-Field’, which is a product and branding initiative; UA Green within ‘Our House’, where the company’s green initiative is incubated and authenticated; and the UA GREEN culture. More than an office recycling policy, sustainability permeates the Under Armour product development, branding, operations, and built environment.
